30 April Bird in new hole up in the same Valley Oak
they've been nesting in.
1 May 1530. Opened the hole (now tagged #1309):
6 eggs, 1-2 days incubated. Measured
then: ① 23.9 x 18.8 ② 24.0 x 18.9 ③ 24.4 x 18.6
④ 24.1 x 18.5 ⑤ 23.7 x 18.8 ⑥ 24.2 x 18.5.
Also set an ambush, since there's still
apparently a NOBA (? ) here.
12 May 1645. 4 babies, ~5 do + 1 unhatched egg,
Band ~ 27 May. Ambusher ready,
31 July 0500. Ambushed the nest hole, getting 5 birds,
including (yes!) The 8 NOBA!
16 October Ambushed this morning, getting 4 birds in
the old (low) nest hole, but no NOBA
(there is apparently still 1 more 8 NOBA here).
One of the birds I got was 82828, a 1997 nesting
NSAB!!
21 Nov. 0700. Another ambush up at the nest tree yielded
5 birds (the low hole they didn't use this year),
including 83433, 83432, 83627, plus 2
(count them! 2) NOBA 88s, both AHY, and
thus presumably from that missed nest in 2000
unless 83065 isn't there anymore. In any case,
hopefully this is the lot of them!
