2000 Waltir D Koenig 2001 2002 Melanerpes formicivorus Keep Out HNHR early Feb. 6. Due to a screwup by The Bradley's, The Keep Out granary was cut down; virtually a total loss. 23 May 1230. Checked nest: 2 kids, ~7 do. Band ~ 6 June. 5 June 1100. Banded the 2 kids. There are a few acorns still in one of The limbs around here, but not much; without their granary there aren't many places to store anymore. 2001 31 May The very nice-looking hole Joey pointed out in the 3rd Valley Oak going up the hill on Hastings does indeed have old babies in it! We'll have to come back and open it tomorrow, however. [Hole tagged #1326] 19 June 1300. Bird in the opened hole in the live (90 covered) Valley Oak on the Lambert site; The 2nd time. 1400. Opened it: 3 inc eggs! Measured one: 25.8 x 20.5 Tagged the hole #1329. 26 June 1500. 3 6abies ~ 5 do. Band ~ 12 July. 2002 12 March Several birds here, but nowhere much to store. The old Live Oak nest tree has fallen, by the way. ! There are a few stored acorns in one of the deat limbs of the Valley Oak just up toward Lambert. 2 May 945.
