2001 2002 2003 Walter D Poening Melanerpes formicivorus Phoebus HNHR (18 Apr) So: still need a nest here. 24 May 1500. Finally got the nest here - it's it is one of the holes in the N-facing limb of the old granary - but not the hole I thought they were interested in! And, to add insult to injury, it has 2 old babies in it! With luck we didn't miss any, but it is possible. 29 June Checked the nesthole - Peromyscus nest; cleaned out. 16 July 1200. Bird looking out of new nest hole! Opened it: 1 kid! Take note: these birds apparently do not look out!! This is the second one, both of which we only found because the kid looked out. See details on the hole, which is just above the 1997 hole, on the back. 2002 12 March Fair number of stores remaining here. 12 April 1000. Still stores. 8 (Bil/R-WIN) #2985 on granary. 2 May Stores: Yes. Bird in hole: no. 28 May 1115. Babies squawking in Black Oak below main area! Opened new hole: 2 kids, old! Banded them as #3697-3698. 30 August Out of stores. 2003 10 April Bird in (last year's) hole.
