Melanerpes formicivorus
Phobo
HNHR
13Apr
1115. Nesting in hole in PO tree (presumably this is Phobo-
could, of course, be BLK-Oak). 3 eggs, incubated.
21Apr
1300. 3 babies, 3-4 do. Band: 8 May.
5May
900. Greg set up to catch the NOBA. Still 3 kids.
11May
1030. Me here trying to catch the NOBA.
1130. 4 birds so far: 92214, 8 2634, 9 2821, and
a 8 Red/M? [Red band faded.] [Apparently 82825] (back)
Did a 90 min watch. Only the above 4 birds seen;
no sign of a NOBA (or the other banded birds).
27June
Still stores here. No sign of a 2nd nest.
20 July
A few stores left.
1September
I don't see any stores, but, Teresa saw a bird in the
hole and they do indeed have a nest (':) 4 eggs +
1 hatchling, Band ~ 21 Sept.!
7Sept.
1315. Checked the nest: empty (a few egg shells only).
Nice try, however.

5Apr
1030. Bird in old hole in the Black Oak over toward
Bianca: 4 eggs, incubated.
10Apr
1500. Checked hole: hatching. 3 hatchlings + 1
fertile but unhatched egg that probably will hatch.
Band ~ 1 May.
There are actually stored acorns in this tree, which
makes me wonder whether this is not Phobo, but an
entirely new group. We'll see, I guess.
18Apr
Based on watches so far, this looks like a new
group. Which we'll call Bianca Negra.
