2002 2003 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Sch. Hill West HNHR 17 Apr 1445. No stores here, best I can tell. Also none in the holes. 22 May 877) 27ch here. 2003 26 Apr 1500. Nothing much here: no stores or sign of birds. Worse yet, the limb in the granary with all the nest holes fell, taking with it all but the lowest (old) hole. 9 May 1745. Wandered all around here, seeing no sign of anyone until I was walking up to the granary, at which point a bird (I only) flew off. It's unclear if there's a decent hole left here - even the low one looks potentially compromised. (But possibly fixable; I need to go up and take a look) 1800 Climbed up and checked: hole is still potentially sound. The limb, on the other hand, I'm not so sure of. I fear that if they use it I may have to bring a ladder up (20' should be enough, thankfully). 17 May 1300. Very quiet up here; no sign of anyone anywhere. 29 May 1620. Again - dead up here. 23 June 1300. The 2 kids are here and fine, [illegible] @ 80 we banded them. Stores? Not as far as I can tell. 30 Sept. No birds seen, but there are a few stored acorns!
