2000 2001 Walt D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Finch: 3 April 2000. At long last a successful ambush here in the middle hole of the leaning sycamore. Got 2 birds, 8'2449 and a 9NOBA, who was definitely an adult (A2Y) - not a kid from 1999, late or early. (Based on old feathers; square primaries, no tail spots, old 30, etc.) 18 April 1245. None in any (known) hole. Also, no stores here that I can find. 19 May 1130. Bird in middle hole in the sycamore! Checked it: 2 hatchlings + 1 unhatched but developed egg (could still hatch): 27.1 x 18.4 mm. (Same hole where we caught the birds on 3 April.) Band ~ 8 June. 9 June 1100. Banded the 3 kids. Still can't find any stores. 5 Sept. Still no stores nor bird in hole. 9 Sept. 600. Ambushed the low old nest hole in the sycamore next to the road (old granary tree), getting only j [8] 3260. Not only that, but they have 4 kids fairly old in a new hole (now
