2000 2001 2002 Waltird Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Wolfpack HNHR 18 April 1230. Couldn't find anyone in a hole, but there are a few acorns remaining here. 19 May 1345. Bird! Baby noises! Nest in the Sycamore! Went up - 2 kids, old! Banded & bled. 5 Sept. Bird flushed from the old low hole in the forest, so I checked it: old wren nest. I cleaned it out, so it could be used again in the future. No stores left here. 2001 28 March 1500. Opened the 2000 nest hole (now tagged #1306) as a bird was looking out. It needed depening, so it wasn't easy. But: it was empty. 5 April 1430. Bird in hole again, but it's still empty. 12 April 1200. Bird in hole: 3 eggs, freshish. 23 April 1500. 3 babies, 1-2 do. Banded ~5/12. 12 May 1500. Banded the 3 kids, #3395-3397. 5 May 1115. Bird in (same) hole: 5 eggs, a few days incubated. Measured them: ① 24.9 x 19.6 ② 25.2 x 19.5 ③ 26.0 x 19.6 ④ 25.5 x 19.9 ⑤ 25.7 x 20.0 2002 12 April There are at least a few acorns still stored here. 23 April 1245. Bird in 2001 hole (#1306). Opened: mucky at bottom; cleared out as best I could but will still need work, 22 August No stores
