2000 2001 Walton Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Gate HINTER 12 April 1300. Wound up to the new hole they've been in, which turns out to connect to hole 263 right To The left of it. It's empty, probably egg-tossing? 18 April 1200. Checked the hole: 9 eggs! all look normal, but I didn't actually open the hole. All 3 4 4 laying, it would appear. Stores still here, by The way. 16 May 1300. Banded the 6 kits here. Still stores. 30 August No stores left, best I could tell. 7 October 1700. Teresa reported a jNOBA here, so I dutifully ambushed, nabbing 4 birds: 82771, 2 of the spring kits, and 1 jNOBA. The last was just molting his crown, and thus must have been from a nest soon after their spring nest rather than a (recent) fall nest (!) 2001 (double entrance) 28 March 1400. Checked the old nesthole (#263): 9 eggs, at most 1-2 days incubated. 1st nest of the year! 3 April 1915. Jen & I watched roosting. 3 birds roosted in the nest. They were 82773 (for sure); 93180 (a helper; not positive but I saw F who MYDB and it + 93180 (h) almost has to be her) plus a 3rd bird who shot 93182 (see 4 April) (I saw light on the L leg - he's the only one who qualifies).
