2000 Walter Koenig Melanerpes fomnicivorus MPHF HNHR 20 April 1300. Lots of stores, noone in any holes. (Starting in last years hole.) 2 May 900. Noone in any holes. 22 May 1130. Plenty of stores. Birds hanging out in traditional tree, but the hole is empty. 31 May 1415. checked around and watched for awhile, but saw nothing. 1418. ! Bird up the field a ways...? 6 June 1030. Went up to a (new) hole where a bird was roosting last night, but no sign of any activity. 13 June 1500. Birds have been at that new hole a couple of times, so I opened it, only to find that it connects to the hole below it whose back had partly fallen out years ago. So I pieced a back together just in case they really would like to use it. It is empty, by the way. 21 August 1630. Came here to set ambushes only to discover a nest in the traditional hole! 6 kids, 4-5 do! (I collected The runty 6th, who is #3308). Guess I'll catch the NOBA ♀ at the nest! Lots of stores left here, 31 August 1110. Going for the NOBA. Watching the nest. 1134. ♀ m? B1k-w(N) ?? Starting with a Mystery. 1200. ♂ Red-DB1/M #3027 Seen well. 1205. ♂m / Wh-LB #1962. Finally a known bird, 1220. ♀ NOBA, Gether. Now #3307. Going home to see if I can ID the other 2 birds...
