2002-2003 (Walter D Koenig) Melanerpes formicivorus LARB (19 April) While getting the eggs into the incubator, I managed to knock the box onto the floor, breaking 5 of them. So we now only have 4 left. Good job, Walt. 24 May 845. Hatchlings in same nest hole: 6 of them. Band ~13 June. 5 June 1425. Watching. Babies definitely present. 8471 stores were also. 1900. One feed by a ?, but I missed who it was. 7 June 1025. Watching again. 1030. ? DB-WNCH / M #3051. 1105. In granary: (2) ? DB / WD-DB #2761. ? DB-WN/DB 1115. At nest: (3) ? DB??/M #2095. 1200. Giving up. It would appear as though all 4 breeders are here, even though I didn't see ? 3017 today. No sign of the helper. Actually, no real sign of a 4th bird at all, at least at the moment. 12 June 800. Banded the 5 kids here. 21 June 1410. Watching. (1) ? DB-WNCH / M #3017. The 2nd ? is here for sure. 2003 7 April 1145. Bird in (new) hole (same tree on inside of fence). Lots of stores here. 17 April 1215. Notice in the hole here. Failed? 1430. Opened the hole: 5 hatchings (1 do) + 3 unhatched but developed eggs. Band by 6 May. 7 May 1130. Banded the 3 kids here.
