2000 2001 2002 2003 Walter D Poenig Melanerpes formicivorus 2 LODO ANHR 10 April 1030. Bird in hole, opened (now #1302); 3 eggs, incubated. 16 April 1230. Collected The 3 eggs: ①26.1×18.1 ②26.0×17.6 ③26.8×18.2 One was fertile but way underdeveloped, so only 2 would have hatched. They are now #3344-3346. 11 May 1700. Finally the renest, in the hole 2' above the last one (had tagged 1317): 3 fresh eggs, Measured: ① 25.6×18.6 ②25.7×18.5 ③25.8×18.8. EHD ~23 May (may not be done laying). 24 May 815. 2 babies, ~4 do, plus one empty but kind-of- intact unhatched (probably infertile) egg. Band~6/10. 18 October Ambushed this morning at The high hole, but only got 83199. Where's everyone else? 2003 14 June 1400. Finally: a bird in the lowest of the 3 holes. A nest, finally? 2003 7 April? Bird in (new) hole, slightly higher than the others. Also lots of stores here. 8 April 1530. Opened the hole: 4 pretty fresh eggs. (2 April) 930. Watching; trying to get The NOBHT. 1100. 8'3198 came, but neither of The other 2. Plemy of stores here. Will try again tomorrow. 15 April 1050. Watching again. 8'3198 back quickly. 1230. Giving up.
