27 Jan Walking up to Laguna Conejo, I discovered
a lot (several hundred) of stored acorns here!
(see map on back). This is a first - I had no
idea there (could) be a group here.
19 April 1300. 3 birds here plus lots of stores still. None in a
hole, though.
21 April 1130. Nest is in the 2nd tree. Opened it: 4 eggs,
fairly fresh (EHD: 30 April). Measured one: 24.6x19.7.
Hole is tagged #300.
2 May 920. Eggs just hatching: 2 babies, 1 pipped egg, 1 unhatched
egg.
3 May 1530. All 4 hatched. Banded 23 May.
18 May 1115. Caught one of the NOBA 88, now #3198.
1140. Caught The 2nd one; now #3199.
19 May Lorelle reports they were feeding fine.
24 May 1130. Came to band the kids, but the hole cutout had
fallen out! One was dead on the ground, but that's
the only one we found. Weird. Did I not put the
hole together well? Bummer.
Anyway, it's back in well now. Stores left here.
6 June Bird in new hole over in the granary.
9 June Bird in the hole again.
11 June 1500. None in the hole, but I opened it anyway: mice
but empty. Still stores here.
19 July Out of stores.
2 Sept. Ambush: got 83199 and the (new) NOBA, 83198
(presumably) flew out when I pulled the bobber.
