Nest of this new (or at least previously unknown)
group found. See "CECN" notes for sizes
of the 4 eggs. There apparently a NOBA.
Group could have existed in 2001, who knows?
I don't look over here very often, and this
would certainly have been true in 2001 with
both CECN nests being in their granary.
14 June 1330. Babies are hatching: 2 have hatched, the
other 2 eggs aren't pipped but probably will hatch.
Set The ambusher (NOBA & here). Band ~4 July.
24 June 1000. Ambusher set.
1600. Finally got her! (No, I didn't actually
sit here all day; only 2 hrs or so.)
3 July 1030. Banded the 2 kids here. No known
stores; all that seems evident are a few holes
in the nest tree (dead limbs).
2003
26 Apr 7 1600. Opened up and checked the old hole. It wasn't
even quite ready to go, but I cleaned it up a bit
and it should be now. In any case, it was empty.
19 May 1230. Starlings have apparently fledged and it's
all now pretty quiet here. Still stores in
the tree.
4 June 1730. No bird in hole, but one in the vicinity,
so I checked: 2 fresh eggs! (Marked 1 & 2)
9 June 1100. Nest empty!
