Flock-counted-been around ship + perching on heli deck since sunup. Circed low overhead - good views of above & below Separate flock arrived, then joined earlier flock giving Counted total of 34±3. - I collected [illegible] 8 remained by 073a 2 - 0800 4 - 0900 5 - 0940 1 perched on mast - 13/5 0706 Tanager 1 Remained with ship for over an hour. Finally shot, but dropped over the side and was lost. Orange/red - particularly bright on breast, throat, head, back - Wings dusky. Dusky patch eye to bill. Tanager bill. Landbird [illegible] well, didn't look at ship, but it departed. Jaeger wings relatively narrow, pointed. Flight rapid, apily followed erratic escape flight of euydionax. Two pointed central tail feathers - proper length for parasitic. 0752 Br.
