Keep Out
(21 May)
1115. Finally a 3rd: ♂ LPM #114.
1130. Leaving. These 3 could be it. The basic questions are
① is the ♀ & the one from Lambert?
② have ♂114 and the ♀ moved here for good?
③ What's up with Lambert, anyway?
Tonight I'll attempt to ambush the hole here - hopefully
catching some birds (here and at Lambert) will clear some
of this up.
22 May
1510. Bird in the hole on this cool evening. I'll have to check
and make sure it's not a nest before I ambush!
24 May
1910. Bird in hole again.
25 May
1030. Bird in hole. Watching from truck.
1100. ♀ in hole now.
1115. ♂ left and went to the sap area.
1125. ♂ in the hole again.
1212. ♂ & ♀ #118 in the vicinity now. No one in hole ♀ and a 3rd bird
in sap tree now.
1223. ♂ (118?) in the hole now. This group definitely does have a nest.
The question is, Is ♂114 a part of the group or not?
1235. Leaving.
26 May
745. Watching. Bird in hole.
724. ♂ & ♀ #118 together next to granary. 2nd ♂ in hole.
757. Got him: ♂ LPM #114 here, foraging along with the ♀.
Looks like the 3 of them.
1100. Returned and peered into the hole with my mirror, finding
4 normal-looking eggs.
28 May
930. None in hole. An intruder here; some chasing. ♂ seen. [go to p.6]
