Melanerpes fomicivorus
KeepOut Hastings Reservation
14 February The limb with the nest holes has fallen within the last
5 weeks, taking with it the lower nest hole (used)
but leaving the upper hole. No birds were seen.
There are also no stones left, as far as I can tell. Obviously,
it's possible that this group won't (hasn't) make it through

18 February 1315. After seeing a bird flycatch near here I walked over and
discovered 3^LP/LP #118! The group lives!

27 April 1020. Watching here and at BigTree from hide.
1628. Somebody's calling from back here.
1642. At least one bird in the sap tree here sapsucking.
1100. There was a flurry of calls and then 3-4 birds were in the sap
tree, inc. 9^ub. Maybe these are BigTree birds taking this over
temporarily again?
1115. Now ① 3^LP/LP #114 (Lamburt) sapsucking. Apparently
these are Lamburt birds down here! I suspect that this
Gotes ill indeed for dear old KeepOut.
1125. 9^ub now there sapsucking again (presumably the
