Watched here at dusk, but learned nothing - never even saw anyone go to roost even though there was a bird in the tree. 1 May 1115. 2 ?? together in Main tree; flushed to a tree up the vale toward H-B where I saw (all?) 4 birds sitting. Now watching in hopes of quick confirmation. 1210. Finally: ?♂️?♀️ #193 and ?♂️?♀️ #ub. 1230. Once again I am failed of seeing everybody, but it is now clear that the 4 are here, even though ?260 remains unaccountably elusive. 6 May 1545. Bird in hole in main tree - could be it. 7 May 1520. Nobody in the hole. Counted stores: 275. 8 May 955. Nobody in holes here. 1515. Bird in hole. 10 May 1525. Noone in holes in Main tree. 11 May 1140. 2 birds at the hole - should be soon here. 12 May 1115. Hole opened - 7 eggs, all barely able to fit onto the bottom. Wow! Another nest with both ?? laying! 17 May 1035. Bird in hole. 19 May 1645. Nest checked with light-mirror gadget confirming 7 eggs. 20 May 1415-1515. Tried to watch the nest, but ? I'm going to need a hide. I did see ?♂️?♀️/P/?♀️ #193. Birds were attending the nest. 27 May 1500. A lone-fide failure: no trace of eggs or babies in nest. Group definitely does still have stores, however. Rats. 3 June 1245. ?ub and 2nd? atop granary. Noone in any holes here. [go to p.4]
