1978 Walter D. Koenig Melanerpes famicius 1500 (3 June) yet entirely, it seems reasonable for me to add an unbanded ♀ to the group already: Add: ♀ (unbanded). Moved here [age unknown] 22 May 1978. 4 June. 1945. An unwingstreamered ♂ spent the roosted in the nest tonight; no sign of either wingstreamered bird. 6 June 1900. Zipped up to the nest and banded the 2 babies as #441 and 442, the first of the year here on the reservation. 9 June Watched the nest today from 735-1035; see compilation on back. 12 June Watched the nest from 1310-1610; see compilation on back. The babies are within a day or three of fledging. Afterwards I checked stores; I could find none = 0 in Tree 2 but found 57 in tree!; certainly enough to be certain that they still have something. There was no sign of a ♀ here today, similar to the case on 9 June. 1915. Returned for a final roost watch. 1955. Was able to observe first ♂298 (n band on left leg seen) and then ♂88 both roost in the nest hole, for an all-time first (though I'd had indirect evidence of 2 birds roosting in the nest hole at once before). 14 June Watched the nest here from 830-1130. See compilation on back. An unbanded ♀ was seen twice in the area (once at the hole) but did not feed the babies. 25 June 705. ♂RRR#88 ♂ in Valley Dale at female line up toward Hay-Blon. 1 July 1920. Came by to measure the nest hole, flushing lots of birds, inc. 32 from the hole, at least one of which was a baby.
