(19 April) abandoned. Another one of those nest failure riddles, I fear -
insoluble as always.
1450. Bird in the hole - there may be hope yet!
22 April 1430. Finally got up my nerve to check the nest. More or less
as I'd feared, nothing is now there.
25 April 1740. Nobody in the hole here.
6 May 1800. Bird in the hole.
7 May 1535. Bird in hole. About time to see what's up again.
8 May 945. Checking the hole, there are again 3 opaque (incubated)
eggs, which were measured and returned. Good going, birds!
1720. #DBRW#348 sitting in tree 3.
1930. Best I could tell, #88 (alone) is roosted in the
nest hole this evening.
9 May 1630-1920. Watched nest here. Visits and action were
