Behavioral Notes on a Captive
23 March The captive, now approximately 7 months old, is in full body and wing flight-feather molt:
Crown: 29%. Nearly complete.
Body: 129%. Fairly heavy
Tail:
L Wing: 7th and 6th primaries in sheath, 1/5th length
8th and 9th " old
1st - 6th " New
Secondaries - no molt, apparently old.
R Wing 9th primary old
8th " just out of sheath
7th " 4/5ths length
1-6 " New
Secondaries old.
Do all 1st-year birds molt in early spring?? What's going on?
