Melanerpes fomiceivorus
1800 Hastings Reservation
(17 October) (When she was caught roosting at School Hill-as good a criterion
of residency as any I can think of!) and 4 September, when she was again seen at 1800 (she was
not seen at School Hill on the 31 August watch)
→ Moved about 21 August ±2wks.
Also add: 8619. Here (presumably) on 21 August;
not here on 24 June → Moved here [adult] 22 July ±1month.
12 November 830. Net up. 1700. Net down. No catch.
13 November 930. Watching.
940. (03ub. ③ LP-DG/LP #347. ③ ④ DB-LP/DB #193.
1005. Seen all 3 of the above birds at least once more apiece. Where's
♀260??
1030. It will take another watch to be sure, but as far as I can
tell there are only 3 birds here, ♀260 not being one of them.
4 December 1505. Watching. In Main tree: ①♀ Pm #193 and ③♂/LP-DB#347.
1545. Birds are down by the creek.
1555. ♀193 and a ♂ found along the creek. Still no sign of ♀260.
13 December Counted stores: 851, all in the main tree (nothing in "nest tree").
1400. Watching. ♀193 down by the creek. No one showed up
at the Main tree by 1430.
14 December 1145. There are 2 ♀♀ and a ♂ together in the main tree. Most likely
♀260 is here after all. (Alternatively, ♀191 from School Hill may have
moved here so I'll have to wait until I get a good look to be sure).
