This is interesting indeed. Quite a few stores could be seen, many now right on the ground but some (at least- 100 or more) near the former top, 10 feet off the ground where the birds could presumably still use them. No birds were seen, as it happens, but my guess is that they will hang around up to the time when they deplete the acorns here, probably in a month or so. At that point, this territory will probably be abandoned for good.
