(19 April) some squire (begging as well (source?)
839. One of the ♂ displaced/threatened the other, presumably
the intruder. The former greets the 2 ♀ normally,
840. An AW called up by Hastings cottage; hid for 15 seconds while
karnit cutting several times, then flew off toward
MacRoberts.
845. Are 2-3 intruders here now, apparently all ♂. Birds now
in sycamores and live oaks at creek.
850. There are still 1-2 extra birds here, and a low but
regular series of displacements takes place. But in
general most interactions are positive, among
the 3 group members. The extra ♂ are rather
peripheral to the entire business.
900. More of the above. My guess is that no permanent
changes in the hard core group are imminent, though
it's always possible that one of the odd ♂ might
make it eventually.
20 April Lots of activity and birds here all day, but I didn't
watch today.
21 April Saw the 2 ♀ in passing. I watched for awhile in the
mid afternoon sans scope, and though the birds were
flying around alot I didn't see any chasing or
evidence of intruders. One thing, though, was that the
birds clearly seemed to be sapsucking in the tree by the
lab near the '75 nest hole.
22 April 900. Finally released ♀262, whose powers of flight now
seem normal. She flew to the creek area, and was soon
