Plague
(11 April) 1100. leaving
1600. looking out of hole in telephone pole - planning
on nesting here?
15 April 1730. Was outside the lab looking up at Plague when
2 birds flew suspiciously quickly and quietly into the
trunk area. Just as suddenly 1 flew out and silently
over to the telephone pole, where he zipped into the
roost hole. A few seconds later the cause became
apparent when a Cooper's Hawk (adult) flew out
of Plague and up the canyon.
17 April 930. #245 involved at Y. See Y notes.
1300. Florence saw #245 here in home territory. I saw
at least 2 unwings treamered birds (probably the other
2 group members), but some chasing was going on as
well; the frenzy at Y is evidently carrying over
to here to some extent.
18 April 1030. ♂162 from Mac Roberts was seen with another bird over
in the lone tree toward Mac Roberts. Apparently there's
considerable carry over from Y here, as there is lots
of chasing, involving 8+ birds.
Birds seen:
① ♂162 [MacRoberts] in lone tree only.
② ♀ ub. in central area.
③ ♀♀ 4/Y [Plague] Chasing intruders in main area [#15?]
Two birds, #15? and one other, seem to be doing most of the
chasing; those chased seem to be mostly unbanded ♀♀,
of which there are several (4+ intruders altogether).
