1976 Walter D. Koenig Melanesper formicivorus Bianca (27 May) A 2nd possibility is that she was SRed/Dr-Y #105 formerly of Arnold I, now conceivably rendered homeless by the invaders there. Unfortunately I cannot claim this for sure. Black Oak Bianca x ? first seen here, chased by ? to ?, then displaced from there. Field (A?) Road 30 May 1910. Came by, but decided not to go up to the nest when I scared away 5-6 birds from various holes in the nest tree who had apparently already come to roost. Ms. B. was among them. 31 May 1630. Checked nest & measured the kids, of which 5 have made it (no trace of 6th); but 2 of them look very thin and I doubt one or both will make it. 3 June 1115. SRRR in nest hole when we wandered by. Babies sound o.k. 7 June 1630. Measured babies, all 5 of whom look normal. Ms. Bianca was in the nest when I arrived. At 1655 I've collared the babies and am watching the hole to get some pictures. 1955. Birds finally in the vicinity. 1803. SRed/Wh in nest tree with Tipulids in bill. 1855. It is now cold and the sun is down and nobody ever came to feed. I will have $ to try again tomorrow. 8 June 1300. Flushing a ? from the nest, I went up and collared the babies, of whom there are now only 4 (the runt has disappeared). 1330. Watching from hide.
