1976 Walter D. Koenig 10 Melanerpes jamicivorus Hastings Reservation Read 1 (6 June) 1800. O9ub seen by creele in sycamore. Nobody at nest as yet. 1830. A & finally visited the nest. 1840. O183 came and fed the babies. 1846. 846 landed at hole but did not go inside; 8183 is still in it looking out. 1848. 846 came and fed. 1900. Above birds still in hole. leaving. Just as I left 8222 landed at the hole with food but did not go inside. 1515. 8249, several others in usual areas near nest or by storage tree. 9 June 1800. Opened hole just to make sure that somebody's still intact, and blissfully there are several kits inside ready to be banded. 10 June 1700. Banded and bled the kits, of whom 5 made it. (The runt did not.) 16 June 1745. OPRW#182 flushed from nest area, ORRLW#236 flushed from nest hole. 17 June 1845. OP RW#183 and ORRLW#249 plus 3-5 others over on the side of PO Hill in their sap area. 19 June 1715. 9181 seen near nest area 28 June 1200. Counted stores: Main tree 1030 } 1275 Supernore: 245 30 June 1430. 8182 and [illegible]. 2 juns, in nest tree, WPRW sitting in storage tree elsewhere. 8232 and another jun both resting nearby in the nest tree. 1645. 2 adult 99 and 8222 flushed over to side of PO Hill. 3 July 1820. Birds here are up on the sunny side of PO Hill, sapsucking surely. One jun. seen; also 9181. Unfortunately, the birds
