Hastings Reservation
(19 April) unbanded birds plus 8259 and 8261 ("Pump" birds). Fighting continued unabated. Birds were still occasionally coming up with acorns, particularly from the locusts; perhaps the stores have something to do with it after all (in any case, this group clearly is not as bad off as I'd thought). Other possibilities? A group trying to takeover Y's territory maybe? Arg.
18 April
900. Noises make it clear that the spectacle continues. Some of it is clearly carrying over to Plaque, where there were at least 8 birds when I began watching at 1030.
1100. Watched the telephone pole toward John's house for 30 minutes or so, taking lots of pictures of fighting and displaying birds. Seen were
① 8245 [Plague] still here, seen being mounted by
② 8195 WW [School Hill] again. Both 10 here.
③ 8194 [School Hill] here also.
Activity was also concentrated at the locusts, but not to the same degree as in this area, where there were 6-9 birds. I didn't have the spotting scope at this time.
1235. Watching telephone pole again.

School Hill birds not here now (now 8245 from Plague, of course). Lots of activity in triangle among lower barn, here,
