Polyporus mollissimus L.f. on a cotton stump of oodle fir. Described
7 April 1839.
Effused, investing, thin, very white, margin fibrillo-sericeus, fine,
minute, substriate, unequal.
Now rather concave, closely investing the substratum of wood as if
it pins. When young in fibrillo sericeus white with a cushion.
The hymenium in some specimens has a pale (tawny?) hue especially when
dry, with a low projecting filament, may be strained. Drenched in water
make a clear, minute trans-lucence, somewhat along filaments along the
strands
