Mucoidines
The Shaw and Sticks in the hillbed 13 April 1889.
At first snowwhite, then yellowish, greenish, planar, or of a verdigris
[illegible], subrotund, at length ellipsoidal, scarcely 1 line in diameter, consisting
of numerous branched a simple filaments, interwoven. If a drop of water
be applied (under a lens) the threads, submitted a elliptical, issue
with considerable force and for some time in a continued stream
in different direction; the longitudinal filaments remain motionless
and whitish, the lack of it much seems to separate into threads,
which contained the threads, were not detected. In the stream above alluded
to, sometimes upwards of 50 threads, completed by other issued, but these
mass readily resolved itself into separate fibres.
