Agaricus
On a wooden post, near the ground (perhaps on the
ground) Con castle. Oct 18th. 1839
Clustered. Pileus hemispherical, at length entire
plain, irregular, clusthy yellow.
Gills free, clusthy. Spore's pale yellow.
Stem hollow, fibrous somewhat, longitudinally scaly.
Pileus brown towards the foot over the stem, which foot
is not always the center. Flesh then capriciously towards the
circumference where it is transparent. Gills about four
in a set. The figure of them not much to be relied on. Stem
reaching 5 inches, about 3/4 inch in breadth. Yellow with brown
stain especially occurring on the end next the earth. General
direction horizontal suddenly turning upward. Apt to split
lengthwise, difficult to cut. All hollow, cavity widest at
the base.
