2000 J. HAYDOCK 2001 MELANERPE FORMICIVORES KEEP OUT HASTINGS 3 April 8:50 - No birds seen. No acorns - 29 April 18:50 - Several birds roosting in snag to south of granary.(flushed when I checked). 2 MAY 12:20 - No evidence of a nest. 5 MAY 9:30 - No birds seen; no evidence of a nest. " 10:15 - Two birds flew from hole (s?) in snag to South of granary. Not sure if both birds flew from the same hole. 4 eggs 1ot which is a runt egg ① 26.25 x 20.7 ② 20.1 x 16.25 (runt egg) ③ 27.1 x 21.0 - fresh, not incubating 8 MAY 16:00 - Still just 4 eggs total including the runt egg. Eggs warm, ZOO1 1 JUNE 7:00 - Opened new hole and banded 3 nestlings that were about 25 days old. Hole is located in Valley oak on Hastings property, 3rd tree and is the 3rd Oak going up the hill towards unit2. 3rd hole up on branch. 12 July 9:00 Banded 2 nestlings - both healthy. 1 dead nestling in nest that died within the past 2 days. Some acorns remaining.
