98 J. HAYDOCK 99 2000 2001 MELANERPEs FORMICIVORUS CHONGO HNHR 9 MAY 14:30- Bird in hole (Buckeye annex). Can hear small babies (2-3d old). 1999 20 April 9:30 Set ambush at low hole (facing buckeye) in buckeye annex side of chongo's territory. There are at least 2 unbanded birds here. Using pole w/ screen. 21 April 5:00- Caught-1 J1 unbanded #3 865 21 MAY 7:45- No bird seen in a hole; 2 birds on chongo side rear granary tree. 2000 19 MARCH 11:30- No acorns in granary. No evidence of a roost. 23 April 11:30- About 6 birds around, may be more, in pane/struggle. Several unbanded birds seen, but I do not have my binoculars/scope to check IDs 2001 ~15 MARCH 12:00- Checked granary - a few acorns. No birds seen 17 MAY 8:00- Observed for sign of nesting. Birds seen in granary several times; however they also flew across the canyon toward buckeye annex
