2000 HAYDOCK 2001 2002 MELANERPEs FORMICIVORUS LOWER HAYSTACK HNHR 20 Marchy 15:05- Huge amount of acorns (~100% full + lots of holes in traditional nesting tree). No birds seen; no evidence of a nest. 5 April 9:50- No birds seen. checked cavity- empty. 11 April 10:50 No birds) seen. 24 MAY 1:50- Banded 5 healthy happy nestlings with Walt, 2001 6 July 9:00 - Covered and sealed hole on side of traditional nest hole. Mouse nest started in this cavity.- removed contents. 9:30 - Found new nest in tree near saddle. New hole, located in blue oak on side of hill. Hole faces old nest tree/ granary, 4 babies about 10 days old. 2002 12 July 12:10- Banded 2 healthy nestlings. Plenty of acorns remaining 24 July 8:20 - Checked granary tree and trees to south. No indication of another nest.
