98 'HAYDOCK MELANERPEs FORMICIVORUS LOWER HAYSTACK HNHR 15 MAY 10:40 - 2♂'s in hole (traditional nest hole). 4 eggs - late incubation. (1) 25.05 x 19.25. 21 MAY 12:00 - 3 babies 3-4d old. 1 infertile egg. plenty of acorns remaining. 26 MAY 15:00 - Transplanted the 3 babies - all healthy to SHIL. 6 July 17:00 - 3 babies (2-3d old) 1 egg - prob will not hatch. (1) 25.35 x 20.5. 9 July 16:45 - 3 babies; 1 egg (removed) Took blood and placed hatching band on each baby. 16 July 8:15 - Added baby from aviary to nest. placed one hatching band Black-orange on left foot. 1999 6 April 10:00 - No birds seen; no evidence of ghost. 2 May 13:10 - Check traditional roost/nest cavity - No eggs found! 18 May 9:50 - Checked nest again (to see if hatchd; Wolf checked and found eggs recently). No hatching birds yet! 5 eggs - all look OK, except 1 is a runt (?) size egg. 20 MAY 14:30 - 4 babies now; no eggs remaining largest baby 10g.
