I have singled out these exsiccate to note their absence, because in view of their importance and size their inclusionion might have been expected. This work has however been principally limited to published exsiccate possessed by the Farlow. Indexes to the taxa and geographical localities in the Tempère and Peragallo works have been published, as indicated in the above citations. Rabenhorst's Bacillarien Sachsens, which is listed as an exsicca included in this work, is very incomplete at the Farlow; only 2 of the 7 fascicles are present and indexed here (see pp. 6-7).
