November 13, 1917 After dinner we had a dance at the hotel, the music furnished by a string orchestra of Dutchmen from a Dutch ship recently arrived from Java. These Dutchmen mentioned the sad plight of Holland as a neutral, and the scarcity of food there, and her helplessness.
