115 The Tengu Maru left the docks promptly at 3 P.M. We had a noisy departure. The docks was crowded with Japs & European bidding farewell to passengers as the great liner cast off. Many of the Japanese shouted lustily & gave cheers for their friends. We cast anchor along side the largest battleship in the Jap Navy which is anchored in the bay & after a short examination of steerage furniture we steamed down the bay in the gloom & passed through the heads at darkness into the sea. The 12 cabin passengers are 160, 100 quid are Japs. As an amusement I have W.A. Dow an Oakland Calif. Man who has been Standard Oil salesman at Honolulu & also as for my youngest 07
