9) A clear day again with Hiei jiyuus now sunny showing thru the light haze above Yokohama. The cheap chrysanthemums displayed here in private gardens are wonderful in variety size. There are all colors & shapes of petals as well as some with centers of yellow disk flowers like a daisy. I have noticed the total absence aggravates them Japan but I discovered only yesterday the reason in a book on Japan. The Japs revere their dead, judging as a funeral feast at the time of birth food in great variety. They have no belief in a future existence or do the fear we last accept death
