The Yokohama War does not close Shuminosokai until 9:30 so I took a walk about town. The fruit stalls were agay with red apples, great yellow grapefruits, the size of musk melons, red grapes, pineapples & bananas. Very large chestnuts were also displayed similarly in size anywhere I have seen elsewhere. Saw no foreigners in the narrow streets. Great numbers of sailboats were moved about the waterfront. The country is hilly, very hilly, richly clad by forests or some other trees & bushes. The few counties are just harvesting their rice crop by hand with both foot machinery. I saw
