Mr. Curtis the American consul told me
that the American residents here outnumber
the Europeans. There are close 500 Am.
Europeans, but before Japanese occupation
there were 1500. The Japs are seen in
great numbers everywhere in government of
shops but few are in the city. I have seen
groups of Japanese children clad in gray/summer
attire with their pink/rainbow umbrellas,
or parents are consider them, wandering
the streets, merry & heedless.
