We cast off on morning at 10 am. + steamed down the Whangpoo in a fresh North wind & clear bright Sky. A large French Managery Steamer followed us out, At Wasing we saw the large Empress of Asia at anchor waiting to proceed to America this afternoon. We crossed the mouth of the Yangtze behind the shelter of some large low islands in the mouth.
