96 J. HAYDOCK 97 MELANERPEs FORMICIVORUS BLOM-ONE HNHR 2 APRIL 3:30- No birds seen. No acorns in granary 29 MAY 17:00- Set ambush to try and catch unbanded female. No eggs in hole with ambush. Cleared out starling hole located 3m below these roost hole. 31 MAY 20:30- Yes - caught both the male #8314 and the Unbanded Female. Took blood and banded her. She is now bird #2679. 12 August 6:20- No birds seen or heard. No new acorns in granary 5 Sept 7:35- No bird seen or heard. * 1997 * 3 April 10:30- Bird flew from middle hole in rott Walt arrived w/ rope. Checked cavity, 3 eggs ① 26.2 x 19.2 - looks fairly fresh, but incubated. so perhaps the clutch is complete. Cleared out starling nest in cavity above ACW rost that contained 6 eggs. 15 April 10:00- 2 babies 4.5g and 5g; 1 egg - check again to see if batches (look like it will not - blotchy looking) 16 April 13:00- Still only 2 babies, Took 3rd egg. 11 June 16:00- 4 eggs - well incubated; 1 egg with small dent. ① 24.6 x 19.6 - 2nd nest 15 June 16:30- 3 babies 4-9g - Dental egg opened - approx ½ developed. 5 July 17:00- Banded & fled 2 happy babies 291B, 2917. Plenty of acorns remaining
