97 Haydak 98 MELANERPE S FORMICIVORUS 1500 16 April 10:30 - 4 babies that look like they just hatched Largest one only 4.5g! All look fairly healthy. 9 June 1:00 - Walt checked traditional nest hole (bird was in hole) Finds 4 eggs. Fairly fresh (not more than 2 days incubated.) ① 23.6 x 19.5 ② 23.8 x 19.6 20 June 9:30 - 4 babies 4-7g. Bird in hole when I arrived. 9 July 9:30 - 1 baby banded #2920. Acorns remaining. 1998 15 MAY 9:50 - ♀ in hole in traditional nest tree, but new hole. Located on lower horizontal branch that points towards central canyon. 13:30 - Walt opened hole. Finds 4 eggs. Hole very deep. Incubated about 2 eggs. ① 24.5 x 20.4 1 JUNE 12:50 - Walt checked, found 2 babies about 8 days old. Lots of acorns remaining. 15 JUNE 16:40 - Banded 2 babies 3032 and 3033 Plenty of acorns remaining. 1999 6 April 9:35 - No birds seen; No evidence of a nest. 19 MAY 13:00 - Checked nest hole from last year - 5 eggs!! Fresh ① 25.2 x 19.6 ② 25.0 x 20.2 20 MAY 13:25 - Checked nest again. Still 5 eggs.
