94 JOSEPH HAYDOCK MELANERPE FORMICIVORAS CHONGO HNHR 20 April 16:10 Removed some woodrat nest material from lower hole. Removed 7 eggs. 23 April Attempted mate guarding watch. Used blind located 8:15-11:15 ~50m up hill from main grainery/nest tree. Saw the following individuals. Y/Y red/white(m) 1968 BK/m Or/D-by(N) 2103 or-Y/m 1665 Or-46/or Dgr? (N) D-blue m (dg-BLK(N)) 2175 Started to rain about half-way through observation period. Difficult to follow BP and identify other B's w/o using BP. -Need help w/ these watches. Paint would be very useful. 26 April! Attempted mate guarding watch w/Jeremy. 9:05 started observations, Y/Y red-white(N) (M) 1968 7 seen in grainery, but BLACK (m) orange/D-blue-yellow 2103 3 w/o male breeders -So apparently not mate guarding. These birds left after about 10 min. and where not seen again During 2 hrs of observation. Did see 2 9's and a 8' across cation. Also observed (in grainery tree) * white-black / blue-black 2290 Not chased (1968) was in grainery tree at the same time. 11:05 End observation. Apparently not mate guarding but birds (above 9's) seen in grainery only for total of 10 min. 2290 good I.D. seen well. [This bird was banding as nestling at 54W]
