LOWER ARNOLD 2
HWHR
3 April 15:10. No birds seen in a hole
12 April 10:00 No birds seen in a hole
21 April 10:30 No birds seen in a hole.
1 MAY 15:10 - Possible that bird was in hole in first
tree along fence (when coming from A1); (new hole).
2 MAY 16:30 - Opened new hole indicated above (MARI); Hole
is facing other nest tree (traditional?) and located
but 15ft above the ground. Found 5 eggs; they
look well incubated ① 27.7 x 18.7.
9 MAY 13:20 - 5 babies, largest 24g, but all nearly as
big. One egg remaining that apparently failed to hatch
because the shells from other eggs were stuck over
the mating; it necessary for the hatching bird to go
through at least 2 shell layers. When I pulled
offe the outer half shell, the inner shell was
piped open in a small cycle, but the fully developed
hatching was very dead and rotten.
16 MAY 12:30 - They all died ☺. No obvious reason - perhaps
No F incubated after a set ambush on may may 12_
24 MAY 9:00 - New nest in traditional nest tree along
fence line, in hole facing towards WNW, down hill
branch, 7 eggs - fairly fresh. ① 26.3 x 19.9
June 10:00 - Still 7 eggs. Bird in hole when I arrived.
4 June 19:30 - 4 babies 4-14g, smallest taken out; the
other 3 are about the same size. (#2878 is runt nesting).
No eggs remaining, so I guess they all hatched.
10 June 11:00 Caught (of 2 unbanded female breeder.
