Still a few (620) acorns in granary below main granary. 3 MAY 11:00 - checked holes. Nobody seen in a hole. 14MAR 13:15 - Nobody seen in a hole 16 August No birds seen in a hole. * 1997 * 3 April 14:40 - No birds seen in a hole, but lots of acorns 9 MAY 13:55 - No birds seen in a hole. 24 MAY 9:30-10:50 - Observed for signs of a nest. Nothing remarkable observed. 10 June 10:35 - I hear babies - they seem to be in new hole located further up canyon (away from knot) in tree surrounded by poison oak in dead, small limb (Chole noticed by Walt w/ bird?) several weeks ago) 12 June 10:30 - Opened hole enough to know for sure they are baby woodpeckers in hole, but I did not conit them - My guess is that they are ~ 1 week old. 7 July 18:00 - Did not check holes, but they still have plenty of acorns 14 Oct 13:15 - All quiet. Lots of acorns in granary
