96 J. HAYDOCK MELANERPES FORMICIVORUS SCHOOL HILL HNHR 4 April 11:30 - Checked several holes. No birds seen. Some acorn stores remaining in gravay at bottom side of enclosure. 4 May 9:30 - 3 just hatched (7.5g) + 1 more hatching bill about half out. 6 MAY 10:30 - 3 babies now. So I guess the 4th died shortly after hatching. 25 MAY 14:30 Banded/ bled 3 nestlings with LISA.G. 1997 18 MAY 6:50- Looking for signs of nesting .... ♂ Red / Red (2677) ♂ ? ? m / orange(?) (2580) ♂ m / red-white (2381) - Fledgling !! - trying to get food from a node (unidentifed) - So 1st nest missed ☺ 9:20- End Observations. Did not see a 9 - perhaps she is spending time incubating at 2nd nest? 4 June 17:00 - 4 eggs, fairly fresh but prob. complete. Bird in hole. (3 June) 15 June 9:05- 3 babies, legg largest baby 7g. All look cute happy. 5:30 - Ambushed with Watt. See his notes for more info.
