96 HAYDOCK 97 MELANERPE FORMICIUORUS MIDDLE PRAIRIE HE HNHR 2 JUNE. 9:15-(Continued from prev. page). It seems like none of the eggs will hatch, however, we will leave this egg in the incubator for a couple of days to check to see if it hatches. 10 JUNE 8:30 - Opened egg from incubator - There is an embryo- Probably about 1 week old, but long dead. 11:00 - Collected 3 remaining eggs from nest. They were cool - apparently no longer being incubated and no bird in hole when I arrived. 15 August 7:40 - Checked the usual holes including UPHF holes. Nobody seen in a hole. Heard birds in UPHF trees * 1997 * 21 April 16:30 - Open new hole in tree located on UPHF territory (Middle prairie uses LPHF, UPHF and UPHF now) Set ambush. It would be nice to catch anybody as we been having bad luck catching birds here. There is an unbanded bird (H4) and we want to catch the BF to start a power struggle and/or the BJ's to point them to do mate guarding observations 19:30 - Yet again, another failure with ambushing - Nobody in the hole. 13 MAY 6:30-8:30. Observed for evidence of nesting. Nothing remarkable seen - They were spending some time to the E of central part of terr. (next ridgeline over)
