BY JOSEPH HAYDOCK 95 MELANERPEs FORMICIVOROUS MIDDLE PRAIRIE HF HNHR 18 June 18:00 Banded/bled 5 nestlings with Laura. Plenty of stores remaining. 1995 10 April 18:30 Arrive to do roost watch. Need to catch 1533 for blood sample. No bird seen in a hole on arrival. Not much luck with roost watch. Peter thinks 1 bird may have entered hole on E side to of lower (granary)tree) near top of limb. 14 April. 18:30 Resel ambush (Walt set earlier in the day) Pete watches, and reports that no birds roosted in either ambush hole. 15 April 1 MAY 10:00 - Bird in hole when I arrived. Marked egg ③ (AM) - 2 nestlings (21-2d old), 1 egg (bad). 10 May 9:00 - Set ambush at nest. I want to get 1533 (B4) and 2076 (HP) for blood/DNA. 10:30 - Returned to blind to wait for 1533 or 2076 to feed. 1614 seen; 2336 seen. Caught 1533 - replaced bands - D'd to: * black-white / Black m Dgreen. Took blood/DNA sample L-green (M) L-blue-yellow (L pink) 11 MAY 15:00 - Set ambush to try for - 2076 - Bird not seen during 1.5hr watch. 23 MAY 15:30 - Banded/bled 2 nestlings with Walt. 2598: mauve-white / mauve-red 2599: black-yellow / m
