95 HAYDOCK MELANERPEs FURNICIVORUS BUCKEYE HNR April26 16:30 Set ambush at tree above granary. April27 5:00 - Caught 2 birds. 2565, 2091. Other birds in group may have roosted in granary tree. Aprd 30 19:30 - Roost watch-Unable to determine where they roosted. 10 MAY 19:45 - Roost watch- Birds again seen heading downhill, to SW of granary tree- Could not find hole. 12 May 20:00 - Roost watch. Watts reports that ~5 birds roosted at buckeye "annex". Could they be buckeye birds or are they chongo?? 23 MAY 20:00 - Yet another roost watch. Some birds roosted in new hole in granary tree; top of limb that points (more or less) towards Hastings houses. 5 JUNE 20:00 - Roost watch. I checked buckeye annex tree first (about 25 min prior to roost time) and saw 3 birds fly from hole (last years chongo nest). Returned to Buckeye granary tree to watch roosting. Saw 4-6 birds roost in this tree. 3-4 roosted in new hole that faces Hastings buildings; Another 2-3 roosted in hole at end of branch that points uphill. - So bird at buckeye annex too could be either chongo birds or buckeye birds that decided to roost in their granary too.
